June 17-19
Summer days are definitely upon us and all the good produce to go along with it is at the Moore County Farmers Market! This week we will have CORN! Besides the delicious fruits of peaches and blueberries, the summer vegetables are pouring in! Shop for yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, radishes, kale, turnips, potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad greens, chard, herbs, funnel, kohlrobi, and more. Look for greenhouse tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, onions, and cucumbers. In the meat department, we have Angus grass-fed beef (many cuts), pastured pork, pasture raised chicken, and ostrich (and by products like wallets and skin oil products). On Thursdays only we have several varieties of fresh fish. Remember the purchase of $20 each week for the next few weeks puts you in the drawing for special prizes. (Read last week’s blog for the details or go to Hook & Larder FB page.) There will be goat cheese and farm fresh eggs, ostrich eggs, local honey (soaps and skin products), breads and desserts, jams, jellies, and pickles (Thursday from Bonlee Grown Farm). Saturdays only you will find one-of-a kind pottery and jewelry from Odd Designs. Join us each Thursday from 9-1 at 604 W. Morganton Road and on Saturday from 8-noon at the park on the corner of NY & Broad, both in Southern Pines. We look forward to seeing you there!
