May 20-22
We must enjoy the strawberries while they last because warm weather is upon us and they won’t be around long after that! The next fruit that comes along will be the peaches and they will be here very soon. Watch for postings on Facebook for the first arrival at the Moore Farmers Market. Many varieties of winter greens are available…lettuce, kale, Swiss chard, Pak Choi, turnips and greens, microgreens, cool weather crops like broccoli and cabbage. Sweet potatoes, new potatoes, tomatoes (heirloom as well), eggs, goat cheese products, local honey and honey by products, fresh breads and desserts, jams, jellies, and other condiments are available. Look for several varieties meats at both markets. On Thursday only in the fish department you will find soft shell crabs, shrimp, scallops, monkfish, yellow tuna, and red snapper. There is Angus grass-fed beef, pastured pork, ostrich meat and ostrich eggs and by products (leather wallets and skin products) and pastured raised chicken. Many plants, hanging baskets, vegetable and flowering plants will be ready for you to take to your gardens. Bring your baskets to fill with market goodness on Thursday from 9-1 at the Armory in Southern Pines and on Saturday at the downtown Southern Pines park on the corner of NY & Broad from 8 until noon! Scott Grote will be the musician for the day on Saturday. We look forward to seeing you Thursday and Saturday!
